Rescheduled - Oriental Fellowship Ride

As there are several brethren at Oriental that enjoy passing time riding their motorcycles we have decided to add another social outing to our activities. We are going to be meeting at Starbucks at 7100 N. Northwest Highway on Saturday July 31st. It's just south of Touhy and can be found at this link.

We will be leaving at approximately 7:30AM, we will ride to Bristol Wisconsin for breakfast and then ride back to the Chicago area. We should be home at approximately 2PM. 

Brother Paulnitsky will be the ride captain for the day and will brief everyone on the ride that morning before we leave.

Please feel free to invite anyone that you think would enjoy a nice easy Saturday morning ride with some great friends!

N.E. District Annual Picnic

Lodge members, families and guests are welcome to come enjoy the summer fun! Games for adults and children will be provided as well as great food and beverages! This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to gather and get to spend time together outside of Lodge with families and friends.  Please come out and join us for a few hours of fun!

Please make sure to bring chairs as seating is limited.

Remember everyone should bring a bag of ice for the coolers!

Oriental Sponsoring IL CHIP Event

Oriental Lodge No. 33 will be sponsoring an IL CHIP event Saturday, August 7th from 9 am to 2 pm at Muebleria Continental & Hispanocare Health Fair located at 1425 N. Milwaukee Ave.

The Freemasons of Illinois hold and fund the entire cost of identification workshops for families all around the State of Illinois. They're sponsored by local Masonic Lodges and held at neighborhood functions or community schools. We put together everything parents need to help the authorities find their lost child. It's the most comprehensive program of its kind ...and it is FREE OF CHARGE TO PARENTS.

HERE'S WHAT THE PARENTS GET AT AN IL CHIP EVENT

Below are materials used for IL CHIP events. These materials are available for parents to preview or event hosts to reproduce for an upcoming event.

• Color Photo that records image and height and is digitized on a convenient CD that can be easily   circulated by police to the media and distributed across the State within an hour via Illinois’ Amber
• Alert Program.
• DNA Sample taken through a saliva cheek swab is the latest tool in the scientific arsenal to make positive ID’s of lost children.
• Fingerprints are the oldest form of positive identification since they are unique to every person.
• Recorded Interview captures on the same CD as the picture the appearance, speech patterns, personal characteristics, and mannerisms for easy media distribution.

The Broken Column - Brother Harry Brahmstadt

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the death of Brother Harry Brahmstadt.

Brother Bramstadt was very active in all facets of Masonry. He affiliated with Oriental Lodge No. 33 on 5-9-1979 and was very active in the Old Chicago York Rite Bodies.  He was a life member of: St. Cecilia Lodge No. 865, King Oscar Lodge No. 855 and Oriental Lodge No. 33.  After the passing of his wife, Doreen, he moved to California to be closer to his daughter.  He was a very big fraternal philanthropist and was key in helping Mark Tabbert write his critically acclaimed book "American Freemasons: Three Centuries of Building Communities"  In lieu of gift cards and flowers, please follow his great and good example and make a charitable contribution to the Masonic charity of your choice in his name.

At our next Stated meeting on July 13th 2010 we will be discussing the article Whither Are We Traveling? by Dwight L. Smith, P.G.M.  It is a candid look inward at our Fraternity in today's society.  As it is long, please take the time to review it prior to the meeting and come prepared for discussion.
